Q&A with General Manager & Quality Assurance Lead Rosemary Hayes
Tell us a little about your history at Visionary Optics.
My journey with the company began when I joined Medlens Innovations in 2008 as a customer service rep. I worked closely with Dr. Robert Breece and Eric Marshall, who showed me the ropes from processing orders to manufacturing procedures.
Shortly after the untimely death of Dr. Breece in 2009, Dr. Donald Sanders — Visionary Optics’ President and CEO — made a special visit to the Virginia office to assure us that we as a team would continue producing quality lenses. In 2010, with the company needing a fresh start, Visionary Optics was born. Just after the launch of Visionary Optics, Dr. Sanders introduced me to Monica Sanders and requested my assistance in the Quality Assurance department and in 2019, I happily accepted the position of General Manager.
What is your role at the company? What about your job is most fulfilling to you?
My role is to make sure all implemented processes flow with greater ease and productivity for our team members and our customers. My top priority is ensuring that our customer service, consultants, manufacturing, and shipping teams have everything they need to support our busy customers in a timely manner, with exceptional customer care and quality lenses.
Ultimately, my enjoyment comes from living according to what truly matters to me — doing what I love and with people who matter most to me, while contributing and making a difference in ways that benefit others.
What does your “typical day” look like at Visionary Optics?
Being involved in so many different aspects of the business allows me to work closely with Visionary Optics’ management and team on how best to optimize our processes and procedures to best serve our customers and their patients. We truly have a united team that is goal-oriented and focused on achieving outstanding results. Together we collaborate and innovate to produce the highest level of care for our customers and their patients. I’m so grateful and proud to work side-by-side with an amazing team that puts their heart and soul into their work every day.
What is a recent story that really highlighted to you how Visionary Optics’ products truly have the power to change lives?
Being with Visionary Optics from the beginning, stories from years ago still stand out for me. A patient in his nineties was so incredibly grateful for his doctor fitting him in the Europa lenses. The comfort and vision that he received with his Europa lenses allowed him to care for his ill wife. And more recently, we had a patient who is a young father fitted in Latitude lenses, who is now able to see his family clearly for the first time.
Why do you think Visionary Optics is as successful as it is? What makes this company stand out from the rest?
Our success is based on the exceptional customer support and expert consultation our team provides to our partners. We are devoted to our partners in making positive changes in their patients’ lives and are focused on research and developing of new products and ideas to benefit our partners and their patients.
