Dr. Greg DeNaeyer and Dr. Donald Sanders, in collaboration with Drs. Eef van der Worp, Jason Jedlicka, Langis Michaud, and Sheila Morrison, founded the Scleral Shape Study Group (SSSG) to further research into scleral shape as it impacts scleral lens fitting. The first tangible result of this collaboration was a pivotal paper in Journal of Contact Lens Research & Science (2017): Qualitative Assessment of Scleral Shape Patterns Using a New Wide Field Ocular Surface Elevation Topographer describing a new classification of scleral shape based upon scleral topography data.
